ARC Implementation of WASH Project in Darfur
The American Refugee Committee (ARC) has successfully implemented WASH projects across
five states in Darfur, focusing on improving access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and
hygiene awareness in vulnerable communities.
- East Darfur – Yassin Shiaria , Alferdous , Eldeain Abukarinka Localities: ARC
delivered essential WASH services including rehabilitation of water sources, construction
of latrines, and hygiene promotion campaigns targeting displaced and host populations - North Darfur – Tawila Locality: ARC supported communities through the installation
of hand pumps, water trucking to underserved areas, and hygiene education sessions,
particularly in conflict-affected zones - South Darfur: Nalay –Shamal and Nyala Ganoub , Kass sharg Aljabal and belil
Localities ARC implemented integrated WASH interventions in rural and peri-urban
areas, enhancing water access and sanitation infrastructure in schools and health
facilities. - Central Darfur: The project focused on restoring damaged water systems, training
community hygiene promoters, and improving sanitation in IDP camps and surrounding
villages. - West Darfur: Ag-Geneina Locality ARC provided emergency WASH support
including mobile water units, latrine construction, and hygiene kit distribution to mitigate
disease outbreaks and support displaced families. We reached out 200,000 person in need
ARC Implementation of FSL Project in Darfur
The American Refugee Committee (ARC) has implemented Food Security and Livelihoods
(FSL) projects across five states in Darfur, aiming to strengthen household resilience, improve
food access, and support sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable populations.
- East Darfur – Yassin Shiaria , Alferdous , Eldeain Abukarinka Localities: ARC
supported smallholder farmers with agricultural inputs, training on climate-smart farming
techniques, and post-harvest handling to improve food production and income generation. - North Darfur – Tawila Locality: The project focused on restoring livelihoods through
vocational training, distribution of livelihood kits, and support for income-generating
activities targeting youth and women. - South Darfur: Nalay –Shamal and Nyala Ganoub , Kass sharg Aljabal and belil
Localities ARC implemented cash-for-work programs, livestock restocking, and market
linkages to enhance food security and economic recovery in conflict-affected
communities. - Central Darfur: Zalingi and Nartiti Locality Activities included kitchen gardening,
poultry farming, and farmer field schools to promote self-reliance and nutritional
diversity among displaced and host populations. - West Darfur: Ag-Geneina Locality ARC provided emergency food assistance,
livelihood restoration support, and capacity building for community-based cooperatives
to strengthen local food systems. We reached out 134,000 person in need
RC Implementation of Health and Nutrition Project in Darfur
The American Refugee Committee (ARC) has implemented Health and Nutrition projects across
five states in Darfur, aiming to improve access to essential health services, reduce malnutrition,
and strengthen community-based health systems.
- East Darfur – Yassin Shiaria , Alferdous , Eldeain Abukarinka Localities : ARC
provided primary health care services, maternal and child health support, and nutrition
screening and treatment for children under five and pregnant/lactating women. - North Darfur – Tawila Locality: ARC delivered integrated health and nutrition services
through fixed and mobile clinics, including immunization campaigns, outpatient
therapeutic programs (OTP), and health education - South Darfur: Nalay –Shamal and Nyala Ganoub , Kass sharg Aljabal and belil
Localities ARC supported health facilities with medical supplies, trained health workers,
and implemented community outreach for nutrition awareness and early detection of
malnutrition. - Central Darfur: Zalingi and Nartiti Locality The project focused on strengthening
health systems in IDP camps and host communities, offering curative and preventive
services, and managing moderate and severe acute malnutrition. - West Darfur: Ag-Geneina Locality ARC operated mobile health and nutrition clinics,
conducted mass screening campaigns, and distributed nutrition supplements to vulnerable
groups in hard-to-reach areas. We reached out 1890,000 person in need

- East Darfur – Yassin Shiaria , Alferdous , Eldeain Abukarinka Localities : ARC
distributed emergency shelter kits and essential household items to newly displaced
families, ensuring protection from harsh weather and improved living conditions. - North Darfur – Tawila Locality: ARC supported vulnerable households with
transitional shelter solutions, plastic sheeting, sleeping mats, and kitchen sets, prioritizing
those affected by recent displacement. - South Darfur: Nalay –Shamal and Nyala Ganoub , Kass sharg Aljabal and belil
Localities ARC provided emergency tents, blankets, jerry cans, and other critical nonfood items to communities impacted by conflict and seasonal flooding. - Central Darfur: Zalingi and Nartiti Locality The project focused on shelter
rehabilitation and distribution of core relief items, including hygiene kits and solar lamps,
to improve safety and well-being in IDP camps. - West Darfur:Ag-Geneina Locality ARC delivered rapid response ES/NFI assistance
to newly displaced populations, including mobile shelter units and essential supplies to
support immediate survival needs.
ARC Implementation of Protection Project in Darfur (GBV, Child Protection, and PSS)
The American Refugee Committee (ARC) has implemented comprehensive protection
programming across five states in Darfur, focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention
and response, Child Protection, and Psychosocial Support (PSS) to safeguard vulnerable
populations and promote community resilience.
- East Darfur – Yassin Shiaria , Alferdous , Eldeain Abukarinka Localities: ARC
established safe spaces for women and girls, conducted GBV awareness sessions, and
provided case management and referral services. Child protection activities included life
skills training and recreational support for at-risk children. - North Darfur – Tawila Locality: ARC delivered integrated protection services
including GBV survivor support, community-based child protection mechanisms, and
group and individual PSS sessions to address trauma and strengthen coping strategies. - South Darfur: ARC implemented mobile protection teams to reach remote communities,
facilitated GBV prevention campaigns, and trained community volunteers in child
safeguarding and psychosocial first aid. - Central Darfur: Zalingi and Nartiti Locality The project focused on strengthening
protection systems in IDP camps, offering confidential GBV case management, childfriendly spaces, and structured PSS activities for children and caregivers. We reached out
176,000 women and children in need - West Darfur: Ag-Geneina Locality ARC provided emergency protection services
during displacement crises, including dignity kits, psychosocial counseling, and child
protection outreach to mitigate risks and promote recovery.
